Abstract:
This paper deals with three of those Hungarian verbs that contain the prefix be and can be regarded as neologisms. Based on the literature of be prefix, it is showed that this prefix has been used in new meaning in the latest years. The author examines the semantic structure of becéloz, betámad and bevállal. Using the conceptual integration network theory (or blending theory, FAUCONNIER 1985) she demonstrates the semantic structure of becéloz as the Hungarian prefix+verb can be handled as a composite structure.
The paper gives examples and results from that survey that the author carried out in 2010 among 216 informants. The results give relevant information about handling the meaning and semantic structure of these verbs and about the attitude of informants toward these neologisms nowadays.
