Abstract:
There is no special chair on Muscovy in France. In History faculties, most of the Russia specialists work on 19th century Russian Empire, Soviet and Post-soviet Russia. Thus, French and French-speaking research on the Historiography of Muscovy is often associated with research on Tsarist Russia or Soviet period or combines historical and cultural approaches. The main topics are: the question of power in Russia; the extension of the Russian empire, and the conquest of Siberia; foreign relations and knowledge of Russia abroad; Church and religion.
