Abstract:
We investigated how different factors affect the propensity of forming eye contact with a human. Younger dogs formed eye contact faster. Visually cooperative breeds made eye contact faster than non-cooperative breeds. Shorter headed dogs formed eye contact faster. The factors were not connected, supporting that age, breed function and head anatomy also affects communicative behaviour.
