Abstract:
Abstract:
This paper analyzes the textual construction processes of some famous
gardens of Argentine fantastic narrative, in stories of J. L. Borges, A. Bioy Casares, J.
Cortázar and S. Ocampo. The work focuses on the poetics and aesthetics of the art of
gardening that inspired these literary scenes. Some of the unusual and libertarian
narrative plots involving these Argentine fantastic gardens derive mainly from the
complex iconography of the 18th century English garden, whose central axis consisted
of replacing reality with its imitation, to give rise to fantastic visions.
