Analysis of wind energy future potentials in two European regions

Abstract

This study is based on the research of wind speed simulations over Europe (comparing domains from Northern and Southern Europe). The research was carried out using a mini-ensemble of two climate models, and three scenarios (RCP2.6, RCP4.5, and RCP8.5) for two time periods (1971–2000 as a reference and 2071–2100 as target period). The projected changes depend on seasons and RCP scenarios, however, the decrease in the frequency of wind speed intervals is more likely overall.
