The Role of Native Speakers in Foreign Language Teaching and Learning

Abstract

Bilingual schools arguably provide a great opportunity for children who do not have the chance to acquire the English language in the family environment. In this study, I attempt to find out whether native English speaker teachers (NESTs) have an effect on the language learning process of young learners. First, a quantitative pilot study was conducted, then the qualitative research was based on class observations in bilingual schools, interviews with language learners, as well as with NESTs.
