Abstract:
László Magyar was a lonely explorer
in Central Africa, who lived in the
continent for sixteen years. In this
period he made four independent
travels in the area of present Angola.
August Petermann and Jácinth Rónay
received his accounts of journeys
with the collaboration of János
Hunfalvy. The scientists interested in
the exploration of Africa heard of his
achievements through these people.
He made a detailed map of the lands
of Kimbunda after several visits in the
area, and this was used as a source
for the region after its publication in
Gotha in 1860.
