Abstract:
China and Czechoslovak-Chinese relations played an insignificant role in the foreign policy of the new Czechoslovak government. This disregard of the Far East affected the rather complicated relations between the Ministry of Foreign Affaires and Czechoslovak representative bodies in China. Favourable development of Sino-Czechoslovak relations was hindered - in addition to other obstacles - also by lengthy negotiations concerning an agreement which would provide a suitable platform for Sino-Czechoslovak political and economical relations. The absence of an agreement had adverse effects on mutual relations. On the other hand, it is almost impossible to determine the real impact of the non-existent agreement - for exemple on mutual trade relations.
