Báró Vay Miklós neveltetése és tanulmányai (1810–1825)

In my thesis I want to present an exceptionally prominent conservative politician of the 19th century, Baron Miklós Vay’s (1802−1894) education and upbringing. As it has not been yet analysed, I can get to know his life period from this time only from the relatively small amount of archival sources and on the basis of few records. In my work I have focused my attention on Vay’s education. I place it in the education of the Hungarian aristocracy in the period ranging from 1790 to 1848. As Vay’s person is in the centre of our research, I present his home up-bringing, private education and finally his higher studies in the University of Pest and in the Polytechnikum of Wien. Besides, I show his study trip in North-Hungarian and Upper-Hungarian counties. In my opinion it can also provide useful information perhaps for writing a complete Vay-biography in the future.
