A Millenniumi Újság jelenti…

Abstract:
In my essay I would like to describe the Hungarian press-history in short form at the end of the 19th century. In 1878 a new period began of the presslife in Hungary. The business-press became tipical when the „Pesti Hírlap” was published by the „Légrády-brothers”. There were many very important new things e.g. the technical improvements, pictures in the newspapers, tabloids, reporter-professions and the "rikkancs" (newsboy) in the street. The Hungarian Millennium Exhibiton took place in Budapest in 1896. The task of the Exhibition was to show the Hungarian history, arts, several industries and products for the visitors. Sixteen new newspapers were issued by the organizers and the newspaper-publishers on the occasion of only this programme.
The „Millenniumi Ujság” was one of them. The first copy appeared on the 10th of May 1896. Tivadar Hirschmann was the managing editor of this newspaper. It was published monthly on the 1st, the 10th and on the 20th days. In the newspaper there were a lot of news about the Millennium Exhibition and lot of advertisements. In my work, I would like to show this newspaper in many ways: content, the forms of the publication and activity.
