Abstract:
Hungarian Terminology of Morphological Typology
The paper is reasoning that Hungarian flectional term is to be changed to fusional, because it’s meaning is neither transparent, neither up-to-date enough in international linguistics. The work discusses some of GREENBERG’s indices, and it finds a new way to quantify fusion. It also doubts the validity of the classical morphological typology, and argues for the more open categories: analytic, synthetic, polysynthetic and for a rather scalar quantification.
The paper offers a new definition for the term polysynthetic, so after all this time an agreement can be reached.
