Abstract:
In the author's opinion the present China is a mixture of the best and the worst of what modern industrialization can bring about. He tries to present how Mao Zedong wanted to change the fate of millions of peasants for the better and how his dreams were reduced to dust by bourgeois disciples of Stalinist model of governance and a defiant bureaucracy.
