| Kivonat angolul dc.description.abstracteng | Initially, Montanelli not only sympathized with the ideas of fascism – there is nothing special in this, millions sympathized with Mussolini – but as a young man, he took part in the Italian–Abyssinian battles in 1935-36 as well, and in the Spanish Civil War he worked as a war correspondent. But like so many former sympathizers, Indro Montanelli also moved away from fascism. He became a journalist. He became the greatest Italian journalist of the twentieth century. The educated, multi-lingual Montanelli, who had extremely strong personality, represented independent, individual opinion from everyone among opinion leaders in Italy in the last century. As a committed and unquestionable right-wing, he turned against the statement of the political mainstream at any time and made some thoughts, which were not agreed by the right-wing nor the left. Sharp criticisms were formulated against him, but he did not deal with them. He often reported about the scenes of the events. It was not otherwise either at the time of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. Of course, his formed opinion about the Hungarian Revolution was caught in the crossfire of complaints. | hu_HU |
